Keep the sky of a place you love.
Komorebi is a small light panel that shows a city’s real sky, on that city’s time, wherever you live. It works out the sunrise, sunset, moon and stars for today’s date and sets them over an original pixel-art view. A Parisian in Lund sees Paris’s sunset tonight, not Lund’s.
First editions are planned for 2027. The waitlist decides which cities we make first.
Live: the real time and sun in this city right now
Venice
Not a recording. A sky, worked out live.
The real sun, on the city’s time
Every day the panel works out the sunrise and sunset for the city’s exact place on Earth. Golden hour, blue hour and night arrive when they arrive there.
The moon and the stars
The moon goes through its real phases. On a full moon the whole scene is lit silver; on a new moon the stars take over.
Windows that light up
As the evening falls, the city switches on its lights, window by window, and goes quiet again late at night.
A clock that doesn’t shout
The time sits quietly in the picture. No app and no account: you will scan the QR code on the panel with your phone, pick your Wi-Fi, and that’s it.
Seasons, weather and the nights people celebrate.
The view changes with the date and the city’s live weather: leaves turn, snow settles in January, cherry petals drift past in April, and when it rains in Paris, it rains on the panel. Some nights are special, and the panel knows them.

The secrets each scene keeps.
Now and then the panel will cut in close for about a minute, to show something the wide view keeps to itself, and then go back to the city’s live sky. Extras will be on from the start, and you will be able to turn them off in the app.

Your city, and every other one too.
Each City Edition is named after one city: its view comes up first and its name will be engraved on the frame. But every panel will come with the whole library, so you can switch to another city whenever you like, and new cities arrive as free updates.
More than forty places are already made, from Stockholm, Copenhagen and Paris to Kyoto, Reykjavík and New York, and we are redrawing them for the panel’s 128 by 128 pixels. Every view is original pixel art made for that grid, never traced from photos.

First editions we are preparing
Already in the library
Fifty seconds, four skies.
Paris at golden hour, Malmö in the afternoon, Kyoto at first light, and four cities side by side, each on its own time. We post a new city most days on Instagram.
Questions people ask.
When can I buy one?
We are making the cities and building the first panels in Lund now. First editions are planned for 2027. Join the waitlist and we write once, when you can order.
What will it cost?
Prices aren't final yet, we are still building it. One panel (about 16 cm) should start around 1,500 kr (about €135). Four panels together make the big square, which we plan at 4,495 kr (about €400), or 3,995 kr if you back our Kickstarter in 2027. You can start with one panel and add more later. Nothing costs anything now, the waitlist is free.
Is it finished?
Not yet, and we'd rather be honest about it. Komorebi is made by one person in Lund. Some of the city animations are still being worked on, so you might spot a glitch, like a boat passing in front of a house. If you see something like that, write to us at hello@ignislab.eu. It really helps, and we fix it.
Do you use AI?
Yes. The cities are drawn with the help of AI, using the same ideas and style I used myself when I made my own drawings and animations years ago (you can see them on our YouTube channel). It's simply a faster way to get to similar results for many cities. I decide how every city should look and check each one. The panel, the frame and the electronics are designed and built by hand in Lund.
Some of my own drawings and animations from before Komorebi:
What comes later?
Each panel shows one place, live, with its real weather and time of day. Panels click together without gaps: four make a square, a few in a row make a wide picture, or stack them for a tall one. Later we want to add wooden panels and panels with a soft leaf-light pattern, so you can build a whole wall, for example your travel photos next to the city they were taken in.
Is it a screen?
No. It will be 16,384 small lights (128 by 128) on four panels joined into one picture, about 32 cm square, behind a diffuser that softens each pixel, in a slim frame. It glows like a lamp, without the glare of a screen.
Why 128 by 128?
We built the first Komorebi on one panel of 64 by 64 pixels, 19 cm across. Four panels give four times the pixels, so windows, boats, trees and people can be drawn properly, and the picture grows to about 32 cm, big enough for a wall or a shelf. We are redrawing every city for it now.
Can I change the city?
Yes. Every panel will come with the whole library. Your edition’s city comes first, and you will be able to switch to any other city from your phone.
Can you make my city, or my own view?
Vote for your city below; the most-wanted ones come first. Later we also want to make one-off views, like your street or your summer house.
Does it need Wi-Fi?
Yes. Komorebi will use your home Wi-Fi for the exact time, the city’s live weather, new cities and settings from your phone. The sky itself will be worked out inside the panel, so it keeps going if your Wi-Fi drops. There will be no app, no account and no IgnisLab cloud in between: the panel will get the time and weather straight from public services.
Be the first to hang one.
